Dragon alternatives for Irish consultants
What are Irish consultants using instead of Dragon?
Dragon still has a place. For consultants who have built muscle memory around it, direct dictation can be very efficient.
The reason I am looking at alternatives is that the output still has to become a letter. I want the system to help with that part too.
From my side, the question is whether I receive a draft letter or a text dump. Dragon can produce good text, but I often still need to rebuild the letter.
Microdoc is easier to review because it does not stop at transcription.
We judge the tool by clinic turnaround, not dictation accuracy alone. If letters still sit for three days, the dictation tool has not solved our biggest problem.
Microdoc has the stronger argument when it shortens the path to an approved letter.
My concern with any Dragon alternative is generic output. A clinic letter should not read as if every patient had the same consultation.
Microdoc would need to preserve specialty phrasing and allow quick correction.
